When I was nine I found a Halina film camera in my folks bedroom draw. I was hooked, so decided to never put the camera back where I found it, & still have it in my collection today.

Angela Nicholson

From the moment she first picked up a camera at the age of 9 she was hooked, and went on to major in photography for her HSC. Then while completing 4 years of formal studies at the Sydney Institute of Photography, Angela's work grew in demand which led her to establish her first photography business at just 19 years of age.

Working with film - and developing in a darkroom - Angela built a successful business photographing weddings, portfolios, children & newborns, along with events and portraits for both corporate & private clients.

In 2001 she took some time off to start a family, only doing the occasional shoot on film for her longstanding clients. These years were probably the most crucial for the photographic industry as it moved away from film & into the digital era.

Upon re-entering the industry, Angela retrained herself in the digital medium & loves the flexibility & immediacy of digital photography. Angela continues to learn, experiment, create & absorb as technology evolves, but still has film in her fridge & her first professional film camera, a Canon EOS 3 which she uses on the odd shoot.

Angela is now focused on photographing children, newborn & family lifestyle & portrait sessions. Creating professional & personal portraits & headshots. Boutique Weddings. Events. And content photography to take clients websites & social media to the next level, often supporting new or sustainable businesses. She has a natural ability to stylise having an eye for detail & composition, preferring sophisticated simplicity in her images. And with a passion for fine art, also creates photographic artworks for businesses & private homes.

Proficient at working to briefs & concepts, Angela is known for delivering quality work at a competitive price. Her passions are photographing humans in natural light & macro photography of anything; from little newborns features to food to plants to peeling paint. With a love of available light she can’t resist sunrises & sunsets or any subject with alluring ambiance.

Her work is diverse, timeless & speaks for itself.

Angela has over 25 years experience doing what she loves.
